The Bayelsa Teens Fashion Festival is a brainchild of Cherytre's Group. It is an event aimed at promoting, exploring and showcasing student's creativity including other arts like African traditional cuisines, designs and craftsmanship. The event is part of our group's efforts to promote growth and stability of our economy by bringing together the Government, schools, fashion designers, shoe makers, owners of businesses and the general public on a round table to speak about their products and plans, promote their brands, products and services and to collectively foster a way forward in doing business in Bayelsa State. It is an opportunity for entrepreneurs and business owners to meet prospective partners, customers and exporters on business terms thereby expanding their sales locally and globally which will give rise to economic growth. It will be a great avenue for networking and expansion of businesses.

The theme for this year event is “Sense of responsibility the way to nation building”
The vision of the Bayelsa Teens Fashion Festival was conceived by Mr Raymond Toryedevie Torutein on September 2016. The vision was birthed out of the need for citizens to take responsibility for societal development and make themselves agents of transformation rather than involving in the blame game.
The high rate of teenagers ranging from ages 13-20 engaging in social vices such as drug abuse, theft, rape, and all manner of criminal activities is a clear indication that our family unit is decaying by the day. This decay has given birth to under-development, decline in education, insecurity and threat to peace in the society. Our society is fast losing its moral and cultural value, as we hardly witness a teenager engaging in a wrong act being corrected by the watching elders. Today, we believe in correcting only our biological children. The saying that a child belongs to the community is fast fading away, as people (elders) no longer see the need to nurture every child in the society.
Today, anything goes in the society. Teenagers can now walk freely almost naked with the watching public not correcting them, minors are sold alcohol without restrain, they smoke and indulge in wrongs acts, and no one stands out to correct them. When these unguided teenagers fall by the way side, they do not only pose a threat to their immediate families, but the society at large.
It has been a case of worry to us at Cherytre's Group. We decided to be the watchful eyes of the society and bring back our moral and cultural and values. One of the mechanism we've put in place to ensure we have a better society is The Bayelsa Teens Fashion Festival.
We hope to bridge the disconnection in society as we will bring together successful people from different walks of life to tell their success stories as a way of motivating the teenager and also creating mentorship young teenagers. We will share ideas and experiences and take the focus away from dependency on government to entrepreneurial development.
We believe these is a societal project where no one should be a spectator, we need all hands to be on deck as we move towards reclaiming our lost glory and values in Bayelsa state in particular and Nigeria at large.
Permit me to close with the words of Albert Einstein, "Man must cease attributing his problems to his environment, and learn again to exercise his will - his personal responsibility."
We are the ones to make our society a better place. Let's start today, let's support the dream and vision of the Cherytre's Group.
